Big Concerts is South Africa’s largest premier live entertainment company. The company has promoted more than 1600 shows with an excess of 300 international artists to an audience of more than 10 million people since South Africa’s inception to the international community in January 1992. The company is the only African promoter to feature on the Pollstar list of Top 100 promoters, consistently under the Top 30 and highest ranking position of number 8 as of June 2011, and has on numerous occasions been voted the top live entertainment company in South Africa. CEO Attie Van Wyk was also recently named 2013 Business Leader of the Year by the Cape Town Chamber of Commerce and Die Burger.
Amongst many past accomplishments, Big Concerts staged the first international concert held in celebration of the lifting of the cultural boycott of South Africa in 1992 featuring Paul Simon. Since then, Big Concerts has been involved in almost every significant international live event promoted in South Africa during the last decade and has promoted numerous major international artists in arenas and stadiums, including U2, Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Metallica, Neil Diamond, Coldplay, The Eagles, Kings of Leon, Elton John, Billy Joel, Whitney Houston and Bon Jovi, as well as major international theatre productions such as Mamma Mia, Cirque du Soleil, Lord of The Dance and Riverdance, and various other global live entertainment events including World Wrestling Entertainment, the Indian Premier League, Champions League T20 and Dunhill Symphony of Fire.
